Welcome to the newly redesigned OCTM website!
The Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics is committed to Engage, Inspire, and Empower with Mathematics!I am honored to take on the role of president of this amazing organization. Working alongside Jodie Bailey, Past President, Kim Yoak, Executive Director, and the entire board, I look forward to continuing to promote and support outstanding mathematics education across and beyond the state of Ohio.
Over the past 24 years, I have become a better educator thanks, in part, to the relationships and professional development I’ve received from OCTM. I began my teaching career in the Austintown Local School District as a middle school math teacher and then as a mathematics instructional coach. I am currently an Instructional Supervisor at the ESC of Eastern Ohio, formerly the Mahoning County ESC, working in mathematics as well as many other state and district initiatives.I have also had the opportunity to work within OCTM in many capacities. I was an affiliate president with the Eastern Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics; I served as the East District Director and then the District Director-at-Large before taking the role of president. I have actively participated in the Ohio Department of Education’s Network of Regional Leaders for Mathematics, Model Curriculum, Content Advisory, and the Algebra 2 Equivalence Advisory Committee. I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had through OCTM that have made me the educator that I am today!
OCTM is only as strong as the people that contribute and get involved. There are many ways that you can get involved and have your voice heard. In addition to the annual conference, there is the Network for Educators of Color, our Algebra 1 and Geometry 2.0 Learning Communities, Ins(pi)reUP (look for information in the spring), and every Thursday at 8:30 our Twitter #octmchat. Coming in 2021, OCTM will be offering additional events throughout the year to continue the engagement and learning of our members!Stay connected to the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics through Twitter @ohioctm, Facebook @ohioctm, & Instagram ohioctm! We are always looking for new and creative ways to continue to connect with one another, and you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or @WukelichMath on Twitter. I’d love to hear from you!
