How to Let Go: The Secret to Redefining "Success" In Math! Did you know that if someone says they're "not a math person," it’s usually because they’ve got unresolved math trauma? In this session, we dive deep into WHY students are so scared of math, and how to change that. Ready to move past temporary solutions for math anxiety and help students truly overcome it?! Learn about the dynamics of fear, how it manifests in math class, and gain practical strategies you can use RIGHT away to break the cycle of fear and avoidance. Add "Math Therapy" to your toolbox and start changing lives way beyond the classroom! |
Marked for Greatness We are modern-day influencers, called to inspire and guide every student we encounter on our professional journey toward greatness. That mission begins with discovering the greatness within ourselves. Greatness looks different for each of us—and for each student—but recognizing and embracing it can make all the difference. Some students will need more inspiration and guidance, and we too may have faced challenges along the way. As educators, it is essential that we help students see their potential, no matter the detours, barriers, or roadblocks they encounter. And it is equally essential that we rekindle the fire that first ignited our own professional journey. |
Math for 2040: Data Science, AI, and the Next Thing What should math education look like in 2030? Or 2040? What does AI have to do with math class? What does a Zettabyte of data look like? The world is changing fast, and math educators are uniquely positioned to help students navigate it. Together we’ll dive into the fast-changing technology landscape, explore the universe of digital data, unpack work in other states to modernize content standards, and answer the most important question: what’s math got to do with it? Come learn how to change up your math classroom with a little bit of data-driven fun, Freakonomics-style. |

The Importance of Belonging in Mathematics Classrooms: Learning About Ourselves and the World In this interactive featured session, we will explore how belonging and data literacy intersect to support students in making critical connections across mathematics, identity, and social issues. Using Watson’s five factors of belonging in mathematics classrooms, we will examine classroom videos and student work. Together, we will reflect on how centering belonging and socio-emotional learning through data literacy not only strengthens students’ mathematical understandings, but also rehumanizes mathematics and allows students to see mathematics as connected to their lives and the real world. |
